An introductory program for English and Fine Arts teachers into the process of conducting writing workshops:
INCLUDING:
- The history and success of the workshop method
- Introduction to editing contemporary literature
- Methods of introducing traditional literature to traditional and non‑traditional students
- Gaining the interest of at‑risk students in grammar through creative writing
- Improving self‑editing techniques of students
- Help students become informed readers
Teaching Contemporary Poetry
TOPIC INCLUDES:
- The definition and evolution of poetry
- Integrity of the line
- Breadth of the poet
- Transforming moment in the poem
- The idiom of the poem (the question of cliches profanity, sentimentality)
- The contemporary poetry scene
- Use of poetry writing to reach the unreachable students
- The importance of reading reinforced
- The poem as the center of the teacher's creative writing workshop strategy
Each of the above seminars is 90 minutes. When taught together, the common material reduces the total time to two hours.
